Labor & Delivery

Our Labor and Delivery nurses are specialists in childbirth, and are among the best that Riverside has to offer. Our labor delivery recovery (LDR) suites offer a warm, safe and private setting for your birth experience. Each room is equipped with an advanced monitoring system so our nurses and your physician can monitor you and your baby throughout the entire birthing process. Your physician can even monitor you from his or her office.

Should a Cesarean section (C-section) be either scheduled or become necessary during labor, your support person may stay with you in the operating room. The surgical suites are located inside the Labor and Delivery department and your recovery will take place in our department as well.

The first hour following the birth of your baby is honored as the “Golden hour.” During this time, we encourage babies to have skin to skin time with their mother and father, which is important for " good brain development, bonding and milk production."
